Stump grinding
Stump grinding in Brevard County
A stump is what the last crew left behind. We grind it below grade, backfill the hole and leave ground you can mow, sod or build on. Two grinder sizes, so the side gate is not a problem.
Office hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Emergency and storm calls are prioritized ahead of routine work.

Companies that have had TR on their property
Stump work for homes, builders and commercial grounds across Brevard County, from one stump in a lawn to a row on a cleared lot.
Six stumps we grind every week
The stump decides the machine
Oak, pine and palm stumps behave differently under the wheel. So do stumps beside a driveway, a fence or a septic line. Tell us what it is and where.
01Fresh stump from a removal
The tree came down last week and the stump is still bleeding sap. Fresh wood grinds fast and clean; this is the cheapest stump you will ever have removed.
02Old oak stump with surface roots
Roots running across the lawn get ground along with the stump, as far out as you want, so the mower stops catching.
03Palm stump
Palm stumps are fibrous and wet and they clog a small wheel. The large grinder takes them below grade in one pass.
04Stump beside a driveway or slab
We grind flush to the edge and stop the wheel short of the concrete. The roots under the slab stay, which is what keeps the slab in one piece.
05A row of stumps on a cleared lot
After a lot clearing there might be twenty stumps. The big grinder and the loader work down the row and the fill goes back in behind them.
06Stump behind a side gate
A backyard stump behind a side gate is a small grinder job. Send the gate width with your photo and we bring the right machine.
How it goes
From stump to sod-ready ground
Mark what is under it
Irrigation lines, cable, and anything else near the stump gets flagged before the wheel touches wood. If you know where your lines are, tell us.
Pick the grinder
Access decides it. A stump you can drive to gets the large machine. A stump behind a gate gets the compact one.
Grind below grade
Deep enough for grass to take. Deeper when something is going on top, like a slab, a fence post or a planting bed.
Chase the roots you want gone
Surface roots get ground out to the distance you ask for. Roots under a slab or a wall stay put on purpose.
Backfill and rake
The grindings go back in the hole, or we haul them and fill with soil, your call. Either way you get level ground, not a crater.

When we get there
What you will see on the day
Flags before the wheel
Anything buried near the stump is marked first. A grinder finds an irrigation line faster than a shovel does.
Chips, not chunks
The wheel turns the stump into mulch-sized chips. There is nothing to haul unless you want the hole filled with soil.
Level when we leave
Backfilled, raked and walkable. Sod can go on the same week.
The equipment
Two grinders, one loader, and the truck that takes the rest

Stump grinders, large and small
- On the job
- The large grinder handles big oak and palm stumps. The small one is for backyards and tight access.
- Why it matters
- Two sizes means the right machine for the access, not the one that happens to be on the truck.

Giant mini loader
- On the job
- Carries wood and brush out through a side gate or across a lawn.
- Why it matters
- It fits where a truck cannot, which keeps the truck off the turf and the pavers.

Grapple truck
- On the job
- Loads brush, root balls and trunk sections without anyone lifting by hand.
- Why it matters
- Hauling is part of the job, not an extra. A cleared lot is only cleared once the pile is gone.
Where we work
Stump grinding across Brevard County
Sandy lots, oak hammocks and old citrus ground all grind differently. We have done all three, from Mims to Palm Bay. We will travel further in Florida for the right job. Call 321-504-1054 and ask.
Questions
Stump grinding questions
Something not here? Call 321-504-1054 during office hours or book a free estimate.
How much does it cost to grind a stump?
The price depends on the diameter, the species, the access and how far out you want the roots chased. Several stumps on one visit cost less each. You get an estimate before anything is ground.
Should I grind the stump or have it removed?
Grinding is faster, cheaper and does not leave a hole the size of a bathtub. Full removal, digging the root ball out, only makes sense when something is being built exactly where the stump is. For lawns and beds, grind.
How deep do you grind?
Below grade, deep enough for sod or seed. Tell us if a slab, a fence post or a new tree is going in the same spot and we go deeper.
Will the roots keep growing?
Once the stump is ground, the roots die and rot in place over a few years. Oaks and some other hardwoods can send up suckers for a season; mowing them off ends it.
Can you get into my backyard?
TR runs a small grinder for backyards and tight access as well as the large one. Send the gate width with your photo and we will confirm before the visit.
What happens to the grindings?
They go back into the hole as fill, which settles over a few months, or we haul them and fill with soil if you are putting sod on right away.
Do you grind palm stumps?
Yes. Palm stumps are wet and fibrous and want the large grinder. Below grade in one pass.
What about the irrigation lines?
Tell us where they run and we flag them. If you do not know, we probe the area around the stump before we start.
Next step
Count the stumps, send a photo of the gate.
Those two things are most of the estimate. We will send a number and a date.
