Tree trimming and uplifts
Tree trimming in Brevard County
The oak scraping the shingles, the pine over the driveway, the canopy so low the mower cannot get under it. We trim for clearance and shape from a 62ft lift, cut at the collar so the tree heals, and haul every limb the same visit. Oaks, pines, maples and the rest; palms have their own page.
Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Estimates are free and in writing.

What is in the way?
Six trims we do every week.
6 of them
01Off the roof
Limbs over the shingles drop leaves in the gutters and rub the roof in wind. Cut back to a clean collar with clearance to spare.
02Over the driveway and street
Raised so trucks, the garbage pickup and the delivery van clear it. Most cities want the street side raised anyway.
03Canopy uplift
The lower crown raised so light reaches the lawn and the mower gets under it.
04Property line and neighbor
Limbs over the fence, cut on your side and hauled from your side.
05Before storm season
Deadwood out, the weight off long limbs, the crown thinned enough to let wind through. Not a hurricane cut.
06Palms
Fronds, seed pods and boots. Different tree, different page.

We own the equipment most crews rent, and the companies that hire us for it include Boeing, Amazon and Lowe's.
The cut matters more than the amount. A bad trim is the removal you pay for in five years.
- 01
Every cut is at the collar.
The branch collar is the swollen ring where a limb meets the trunk. Cut just outside it and the tree closes the wound. Cut flush or leave a stub and it rots into the trunk. This is the difference between trimming and hacking, and it is the thing to look for in anyone's work.
- 02
We do not top trees.
Cutting the top off an oak or a pine to make it shorter is the worst thing that can be done to it. The regrowth is weak, the stubs decay, and the tree becomes a hazard within a few seasons. If a tree is too tall for where it stands, the honest answer is removal, and we will say so.
- 03
No more than a quarter of the live crown in one visit.
Take more than that and the tree spends its reserves regrowing instead of defending itself. Big clearance jobs are staged over two seasons when they have to be.
- 04
Hurricane cuts are a myth.
Stripping a tree to a few stubs before the season does not make it safer. It makes it weaker. Storm-season trimming is deadwood out, end weight reduced on long limbs, and the crown opened enough to let wind through. The tree keeps its shape.
- 05
From the lift, over the roof.
Trimming over a house is done from the boom lift so the cutter is above the roof and every section is lowered, not dropped on the shingles. The lift also reaches limbs a climber would have to walk out on.
What a trimming visit looks like.
Walk it and mark it.
What comes off, what stays, where the clearance line is. Written in the estimate.
Deadwood first.
Dead and broken limbs come out before any shaping, because they are the hazard.
Clearance and uplift.
Limbs over the roof, drive, line or fence cut at the collar. Lower crown raised to the agreed height.
Chip, load, leave it clean.
Brush chipped or loaded on the grapple, lawn raked, gutters cleared of what we dropped.
Our equipment
The three machines behind a clean trim.
A trim over a roof from a ladder is a guess. From a lift it is a cut.
-

01
62ft Imer boom lift
- On the job
- Puts the cutter at the limb over the roof, the wire or the drive, from a platform.
- Why it matters
- Reaches limbs a climber cannot safely walk out on, and keeps the cut above the shingles.
-

02
Giant mini loader
- On the job
- Carries brush and limbs out of a backyard through the side gate.
- Why it matters
- The limbs off a big oak fill a trailer. The loader moves them without dragging them across the lawn.
-

03
Grapple truck
- On the job
- Loads the larger limbs and hauls the same day.
- Why it matters
- No curb pile, no waiting for pickup.
Stump grinders come if a trim turns into a removal. Full fleet on the equipment page.

-
It depends on the tree's height, how much comes off, what it is over, and access. A roof clearance on a big oak from the lift costs more than raising a small canopy in an open yard. Estimates are free and written.
-
Trimming is about what the tree is touching: the roof, the drive, the wires, the fence, the view. Pruning is about the tree itself: deadwood, structure, thinning for health. If the problem is the roof, this page. If the problem is the tree, the pruning page. Same crew either way.
-
Late winter into spring for most hardwoods, before the growth flush. Storm-prep trimming runs April into June. Oaks damaged by a freeze should wait until new growth shows what is dead. Trimming can be done year-round when there is a clearance problem; the season only changes how much comes off.
-
Yes, and it is the trimming most worth doing. Deadwood out, end weight off, crown opened. Not stripped. May is the month to book it.
-
Not if the cuts are at the collar and no more than a quarter of the live crown comes off. Topping, flush cuts and over-thinning do hurt it, and we do not do them.
-
Stripping a tree to stubs before the season. No. It weakens the tree and the regrowth is more likely to fail in wind, not less.
-
Up to the property line, from your side, yes. We do not go onto or over the line without the neighbor's say-so. Best done with a text to them first.
-
Yes. Chipped or loaded on the grapple and hauled the same visit. We rake the lawn and clear the gutters of what we dropped.
-
If they are touching the line or the service drop, FPL handles that first. Limbs near but clear of lines, we trim from the far side. We tell you which case you have.
Get a written estimate on the trim.
Send a photo of the tree and what it is touching. We call back, come out, and put the plan and the number in writing.
