Six calls we get in Cocoa after a storm

What an emergency looks like in Cocoa

Send photos if you can. A picture of the tree and what it landed on changes what we bring.

  • Fallen limb broken through a house roof
    01

    Tree on the house

A trunk or crown on the roof or the pool cage comes off in sections from the boom, never dragged, so nothing shifts on the structure.

  • Fallen tree lying across a residential driveway
    02

    Tree across the driveway

The grapple truck lifts the trunk and the lane is open before the rest of the tree is dealt with.

  • Broken limb hanging in a tree canopy after a storm
    03

    Hanging limb

A limb split and hanging by bark will finish falling on its own. We cut it from the lift so it drops where we want it.

  • Fallen tree resting on a parked car
    04

Tree on a car or fence

Sections are rigged and lowered off the car or the fence, not dropped, so there is no second hit.

  • Tree growing against an overhead power line
    05

    Tree touching a power line

Call FPL first. Once the utility has made the line safe, we clear what is left. We do not cut anything touching a live line.

  • Several trees blown down across a lot after a storm
    06

    Hurricane cleanup

After a named storm, the whole yard: limbs down, trees leaning, debris piled. One crew clears it and hauls it.

How it goes

From your call to a clear driveway

  1. Call, then send photos

A photo of the tree and what it is resting on tells us what to bring. Email them to Tim@TRLawnTree.com.

  2. Triage on the phone

We tell you what is safe to leave and what is not, and whether FPL or your insurer needs to be involved before we cut.

  3. Load off first

Whatever is on the house, the car or the fence comes off first, in sections.

  4. The rest comes down

Once the structure is clear, the tree goes to the ground from the lift. Split wood is never climbed.

  5. Haul it

The grapple truck loads it and the wood leaves with us. Nothing is burned.

When we get there

What to do before we get there

  • Stay out from under it

A tree that has moved once can move again. Keep people and pets away.

  • Photograph everything

Pictures of the tree and the damage before anything is moved. Your insurer will ask.

  • Leave lines to FPL

If a limb is on or near a wire, call FPL and wait.

  • Do not cut the trunk

A loaded trunk releases its weight in a direction nobody can predict.

The equipment

Why a Cocoa emergency still needs the lift and the grapple

  • TR Lawn and Tree 62ft boom lift

    62ft Imer boom lift

    On the job
Puts the saw at the top of the tree without anyone climbing it.
    Why it matters
Dead, split or storm-loosened wood is not climbed. The lift reaches over roofs, cages and fences from the driveway.
  • TR Lawn and Tree grapple truck

    Grapple truck

    On the job
Lifts trunk sections and whole crowns off whatever they landed on and swings them straight into the truck.
    Why it matters
The debris leaves with us the same visit, so there is no pile at the curb and nothing to burn.
  • TR Lawn and Tree giant mini loader

    Giant mini loader

    On the job
Carries wood and brush out through a side gate or across a lawn on tracks.
    Why it matters
It fits where a truck cannot and spreads its weight, which is what keeps turf and pavers whole.

Questions

Emergency tree removal in Cocoa questions

Something not here? Call 321-504-1054 during office hours or book a free estimate.

What counts as a tree emergency?

A tree or limb on a structure, a vehicle or a road, one hanging and about to fall, or one leaning at a house with the roots lifted. A tree down in an open yard is urgent, not an emergency, and can usually wait for a scheduled visit.

How fast can you get to Cocoa?

We are based in Cocoa, and during office hours emergency and storm calls go ahead of routine work. After a big storm every crew in the county is busy, so call early and send photos.

Do you work nights and weekends?

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. If you reach us outside those hours, leave a message and email photos, and we will call you back during office hours.

How much does emergency tree removal cost?

More than the same tree on a scheduled day. Our pricing guide puts storm and emergency work 20 to 60 percent above a planned removal. Every job gets an estimate before we start.

Will insurance pay for it?

Often, when the tree damaged a covered structure. The adjuster decides. Photograph everything before it is moved and keep the invoice.

Can you remove a tree touching a power line?

Not while it is touching a live line. Call FPL first. Once the line is safe, we remove the rest.

What happens to the wood?

It leaves with us the same visit, hauled or processed into mulch. We do not burn on site.
