Tree removal, Rockledge

Tree removal in Rockledge, FL

Rockledge has the oldest canopy in this part of the county. Mature live oaks over 1960s roofs, carports and driveway slabs, planted when the houses were new and now bigger than the lots they sit on.

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Estimates are free and in writing before anything starts.

What are we looking at?

Six Rockledge removals we get called for.

6 of them

  • Mature live oak canopy spreading over a carport roof
    01

    Oak over the carport

A mature live oak spreading across a flat roof or an open carport with no headroom to work from below.

  • Tree with two co dominant trunks meeting in a tight fork
    02

    Split crotch

Two trunks grown from one point, bark trapped in the join. It fails at the fork, not the base.

  • Tree roots lifting and cracking a concrete driveway slab
    03

    Lifting the driveway

Roots under a slab that is now cracked and rocking. The tree usually has to go before the concrete does.

  • Pine with a bare dead top above a living lower canopy
    04

    Dead top

A bare crown on a pine that still has green lower down. Dead wood is worked from the lift, not climbed.

  • Tree growing close to a screened back porch
    05

    Against the screen porch

Older Rockledge homes have screen rooms on the back. Aluminium takes a limb badly.

  • Cut trunk rounds stacked on a lawn ready for loading
    06

    The wood afterwards

A mature oak is tons of trunk. It goes on the grapple truck, not into a pile by the road.

Trunk being cut into sections with a chainsaw at ground level

An oak planted when a Rockledge house was built is now sixty years old and twice the size of the yard it was put in.

Old canopy, established lots, and no room to drop anything.

  • 01

Mature oaks are a weight problem, not a height problem.

A sixty year old live oak carries most of its mass out sideways rather than up. The spread is what reaches the roof, the carport and the neighbor, and it is the spread that decides how much of the tree has to be roped.

  • 02

    Older lots hide older infrastructure.

Rockledge homes from the sixties and seventies have septic, well lines, original cast drains and driveway slabs sitting in root zones. We ask what is where before the truck is positioned.

  • 03

Dead wood is worked from the lift.

A dead top will not take a climber's weight and it does not signal before it breaks. The boom lift puts the cutter beside the limb from a platform that does not depend on the tree.

  • 04

The grapple keeps the wood off the lawn.

Trunk rounds off a mature oak are measured in tons. The grapple lifts them straight from where they land into the truck, so nothing gets dragged across an established lawn.

  • 05

Some of these are removals, some are not.

A spreading oak over a roof is sometimes a trimming job rather than a removal. If the tree is sound and the problem is clearance, we will say so and quote the trim instead.

What a removal day looks like.

  • Walk the drop zone.

House, carport, screen room, slab, fence, lines and septic, plus which way the weight sits. That sets the rigging plan and the written price.

  • Strip the crown.

The spread comes off first, roped where it hangs over anything, working in from the ends.

  • Section the trunk.

Cut into rounds the grapple can pick up, from the lift or the ground depending on what is below.

  • Load, grind, leave it clean.

Wood on the truck, the stump ground if you want it gone, debris hauled or mulched. Nothing burned on site.

Our equipment

The three machines that keep this a one visit job instead of a rental.

Most crews rent when a job calls for more than a saw and quote accordingly. These three are ours and they come as standard.

  • TR 62ft Imer boom lift extended into a tree

    01

    62ft Imer boom lift

    On the job
Puts the cutter at the limb on trees too tall, too dead or too close to a structure to climb.
    Why it matters
The lift is what turns a tree nobody could reach into a scheduled job. Without one, the crown over your roof is climbed or it is not touched.
  • TR grapple truck loading limbs and debris

    02

    Grapple truck

    On the job
Lifts trunk sections and whole limbs off the lawn and into the bed. Hauls the same day.
    Why it matters
Trunk wood is measured in tons. The grapple moves it without a track across the yard and without a pile left at the curb.
  • TR giant mini loader moving material on a job site

    03

    Giant mini loader

    On the job
Carries sections and material through a standard side gate and across turf on tracks.
    Why it matters
Backyard work needs the wood out through the gate rather than a panel taken out of the fence.

The rest of the fleet comes to the same property under the same estimate. Every machine, with photos, is on the equipment page.

Tree removal questions from Rockledge.

  • Spread, access and what sits under the canopy matter more than height. A mature oak over a carport and a slab is a bigger job than a taller pine in an open yard. The Brevard pricing guide covers what moves the number. Estimates are free and in writing.

  • It is a separate line on the estimate so you can decide. Grinding is usually done on the same visit, which is cheaper than bringing the machine back.

  • Often not. If the tree is sound and the issue is clearance over a roof or a drive, a trim solves it and costs less. We will tell you which one you are looking at rather than quoting the bigger job by default.

  • A tight fork with bark trapped in it is a known failure point, and it usually fails in a storm rather than quietly. It can sometimes be reduced or braced, and sometimes it is a removal. It needs looking at rather than guessing from a photo.

  • Yes, and it is a normal Rockledge job. Aluminium and screen do not take a limb, so anything over that side comes down on ropes from the lift rather than being dropped.

  • If it is touching the line or the service drop, FPL clears that before we work. If it is close but clear, we work from the far side. We tell you which situation you have before quoting.

  • It depends on the city and the tree. Some Brevard jurisdictions regulate removal above a trunk size or for certain species. Check with Rockledge before scheduling. We do not pull permits for owners.

  • The grapple works from the street or the drive where it can, and the loader runs on tracks. On older slabs we position off the concrete where possible. Anything a machine marks gets put right.

  • It leaves on the grapple truck or goes to mulch. We do not burn on site. If you want rounds left for firewood, say so on the estimate and we will stack them.
